Dementia Caregiver Needed - Full-Time

Job Title: Full-Time Dementia Caregiver
Location: Del Mar, San Diego
Pay Rate: $30−$35 per hour

Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Full-Time Dementia Caregiver to provide specialized care for an elderly individual in Del Mar. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, offering tailored support to ensure safety, comfort, and quality of life for our client.

Caregivers should be knowledgeable about the different types of dementia, their symptoms, and how they progress. This includes understanding cognitive decline, memory loss, changes in behavior, and communication challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide personalized, respectful care to seniors with dementia or Alzheimer’s
Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and grooming
Administer medications and support health management under supervision
Implement and adapt activities that promote mental engagement and emotional well-being
Ensure a safe environment, preventing wandering or falls
Monitor behavioral changes and communicate effectively with family and healthcare team
Assist with light housekeeping, meal preparation, and hydration
Offer companionship and emotional support to reduce anxiety and confusion
Track and report any changes in condition or behavior

Qualifications:

Prior experience in dementia or Alzheimer’s care preferred
Knowledge of dementia-specific strategies and techniques
Compassionate, patient, and understanding demeanor
Excellent communication and observational skills
Reliable, trustworthy, and responsible
Ability to work full-time hours in Del Mar

Requirements:

Experience: Previous caregiving experience, ideally with dementia or similar conditions
Attitude: Positive attitude, patience, and empathy
Registration on the CDSS website as a Home Care Aide with no criminal record
Negative TB Test results
Ability to obtain CPR/Basic Life Support Certification
Valid ID/driver’s license and reliable transportation
Dementia Care Certification: Training in Dementia Care
Prior experience (minimum of 3 years with Dementia Care)
Certifications: Valid CPR/First Aid
CNA or other related nursing degree a plus!
Additional: Must pass background check, complete all mandated training, and have access to reliable transportation
